No, it’s due to them having already played one more away game than us due to the nature of them going through the losers bracket.
Its one of the dumbest rules I have ever seen.
I think based on the current rules it’s actually mathematically impossible for a host seed coming through the winners bracket to be the home team in the “if necessary” regional final game.

It’s not impossible. We were the home team against FAU in 2013.

The kicker, which is an equally dumb rule, was that #2 LSU had to be the Away team in the losers bracket since they had already been the Home team against Wofford.
Had they played LIU, LSU would have been the Home team in the losers bracket, and We would be Home team tonight. Make it make sense!

The fact that we are the "host" team, the number four overall seed, and the "away" team tonight blows my mind. Earning that seed should entitle us, especially in the determining game the designated HOME team.

We started off the same way against LSU in our first meeting where we were watching strikes. I noticed in the 5th inning we started swinging at first pitch strikes. That made a huge difference in our approach at the plate. We have to do the same thing tonight if we want to have a fighting chance (as well as be effective on the mound).

Just strolled across DSPN and the heels are the visitors again. Be like having the better record and higher seed but you not having the home court in a NBA series in a game 7.

I get the top 5 national seed piece, and they do factor in geography/conference ties. That said, I believe these were viewed as tough 1 vs 2 matchups.

Oklahoma- dook
UVA- Mississippi State-
NC State- South Carolina
This was before teams getting punched out. Win tonight and it's moot on the way to Supers.

Lsu was a very tough 2 seed. Gotta beat them to get to Omaha at some point most likely either here or to get through but certainly hated the pairing
