Williams' situation is tightly controlled, with restricted access to the outside world. She can only leave with permission from both Coterie and her court-appointed guardian, and phones are not allowed. However, she does have a landline that enables her to make outgoing calls.
Despite the limitations, Williams remains active and engaged. She has been attending a megachurch in Brooklyn, which she finds spiritually fulfilling. Additionally, she uses an iPad in her spacious suite to listen to her old radio show and stay updated on news about herself. The monthly cost of her unit, along with legal and guardian fees, amounts to a significant $25,800.
However, Williams' life outside the facility is not without drama. Her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, has filed a lawsuit, alleging that her guardianship is "fraudulent bondage" and questioning the integrity of the judge. The suit, which sought $250 million in damages, was dismissed by a judge on October 9. Despite this setback, Hunter may refile the lawsuit. Williams' son, Kevin Jr., is also trying to distance himself from the drama, expressing a desire to "build, carve out my own path right now, away from everything" and simply wants his mother to "get out of this. Because it’s not right."
