How to Make Heart Pizza

To make this cute heart pizza, you’ll need a few ingredients

  • Premade pizza dough
  • Pizza sauce
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Pepperoni

You’ll turn those simple ingredients into an adorable Valentine’s dinner for kids by using cookie cutters. To make those cute heart shaped pepperonis, I used a 1.5-inch heart cookie cuter. And to make the heart shaped pizza, I used a 5-inch heart cookie cutter.

Start by using your smaller cookie cutter to cut the heart-shaped pepperoni. Cut each pepperoni separately, placing a lot of pressure on the top of the cookie cutter to make sure you get a clean cut. Continue cutting the pepperoni until you have enough to cover four pizzas.

Using the 5-inch cookie cutter, I was able to cut four mini heart pizzas from the roll of premade dough. You may need to roll the dough out flat after removing it from the package to make it big enough to cut the four hearts from the dough. Or you can ball up the dough and roll it out again to continue cutting the hearts.

After you have your pizza crusts and pepperonis cut for your heart pizza, it’s time to put them all together for your valentine’s dinner for kids. Start by using your favorite pizza sauce to cover the top of each heart shaped pizza.

Next, add the cheese to the top of the pizza. I used a handful of mozzarella cheese for each heart-shaped pizza.

Finally, top each of the heart pizzas with heart-shaped pepperoni to finish making your valentine’s dinner for kids. When you have all your toppings added, place the heart pizza in the oven and bake according to the package instructions for the dough.

Heart-Shaped Pizza Making Tips

This easy recipe heart pizza makes a great valentine’s dinner for kids. And while this recipe is super easy, I have a few tips to make it even simpler!

Add Different Toppings

The heart pepperonis make this heart-shaped pizza adorable, so I wouldn’t leave those off. But if your kids like more toppings on their pizza, go ahead and add them! Here are a few additional topping ideas:

  • Bacon pieces
  • Sausage
  • Green peppers and onions
  • Canadian bacon or ham (you could even cut those into hearts, too!)

Prebake the crust

While your packaged pizza crust may not say to prebake it, I think it makes the pizza taste better. If you want to prebake your crust, cut out the heart pizza crust first and place it in the oven while you cut out the heart pepperonis. Bake it for around 10 minutes, until it just starts to brown. Then, remove it from the oven and add your toppings. Prebaking your crust will keep it from getting soggy as it bakes.

Make it gluten free

This recipe is so easy to make gluten free. Simply swap out the traditional premade pizza crust for a gluten free pizza crust. While I haven’t found a good premade crust, I love using Bob’s Red Mill Pizza Crust Mix to make pizza at home.
