Barry Neal Wien Obituary - 2022 (2024)

Barry Neal Wien, of Willards, MD. joined his wife Natalie to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, December 23, 2022. He was born on December 31, 1961, in Salisbury, MD, and was the son of the late Paul Taylor Wien, Sr. and Peggy Smith Wien of Salisbury, he was 60 years old.

Barry will be remembered as a kind, quiet, caring person that loved spending time with his high school sweetheart and wife of 40 years, Natalie. He loved animals, and leaves behind his cat, Leon.

He gave his life to Christ and was a member for over 12 years at Bates United Methodist Church, where he discovered his deep love for serving the Lord, he later served the Lord for 5 years at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Salisbury. He recited Psalm 91 daily and sincerely loved Jesus, spreading the Word to many.

Barry loved the outdoors; he was an avid woodsman and hunter and had been a longtime member of the Mount Olive Hunt Club. He also enjoyed bass fishing and simply being in the woods. His love for the outdoors started as a young boy joining his dad’s scout troop #127 at St. Andrews Church and he enjoyed camping with his family. Barry was very artistic and enjoyed drawing and wood burning and later used his skills as a welder to make steel and wood working projects.

Professionally, Barry served as a Pipe Welder for many years, holding certifications in all welding proficiencies. His career started at Chesapeake Shipbuilding and included time at Meadows Hydraulics, Dupont Chamber Works, and NASA Wallops Flight Facility. He earned his vocational training at Wor-Wic Community College where he later taught many young people the trade of welding at Wor-Wic Community College for over 20 years.

Barry is preceded in death by his loving wife, Natalie Elizabeth Wien, and his parents. He is survived by his brother, Paul Taylor Wien, Jr. (Tricia) of Salisbury, his sister, Cheryl Young (Chris) of Delmar, four nieces and nephews, four great nieces and nephews and many special family members and friends including Darren Disney, who Barry looked to like a son.

A memorial service to honor the life of Barry will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will take place at a later date.
